Laura M. Sherbrook is a principal in the firm’s Detroit office. She focuses her practice on birth trauma and medical malpractice defense.
Ms. Sherbrook received her J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Sherbrook was honored with the Jurisprudence Achievement Award in Criminal Trial Advocacy I. She also served as a Teacher’s Assistant for Civil Procedure in the Fall 2015 semester. Ms. Sherbrook was an active member of the Journal of Animal and Natural Resources and was involved in the State Appellate Defender Office Clinic at MSU College of Law. Prior to Law school, Ms. Sherbrook graduated from The University of Michigan, obtaining a B.A. Degree in Sociology with High Distinction, and a minor in The Program in the Environment.
Prior to joining the Kitch Firm, Ms. Sherbrook served as a Judicial Intern for U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Judge Nancy G. Edmunds. She was also a Legal Intern at the State Appellate Defender Office.
Ms. Sherbrook was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Rising Stars are attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or those who have practiced for ten years or less. Only 2.5 percent of Michigan lawyers are named to this list every year.
Ms. Sherbrook is involved in Project H.E.L.P. (Homeless Experiencing Legal Protection), which provides a basic level of legal advice at the Saints Peter & Paul Warming Center in Detroit.
She also volunteers her time to assist the Expungement Initiative facilitated by Lakeshore Legal Aid. This Initiative involves attending various expungement clinics, volunteering to assist in reviewing potential clients’ criminal histories, determining whether they are eligible to have their convictions expunged, and representing clients at their expungement hearings.
Ms. Sherbrook is a member of the Michigan Society of Healthcare Risk Management, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Ms. Sherbrook is licensed to practice law in Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
