Biography

Leatha chairs Meagher + Geer’s Anti-Fraud and Extra Contractual Litigation practice group and she has handled thousands of cases throughout her career. As one of the firm’s leaders, she also serves as a member of its Management Committee.

Leatha litigates complex fraud, civil RICO, and coverage dispute matters throughout Minnesota and nationwide. She has successfully represented clients in numerous bad faith and extracontractual claims. Her experience also includes handling significant property loss, defamation, liability disputes, and other complex commercial litigation.

She is frequently asked to handle matters involving arson, property losses, healthcare provider fraud, staged automobile accidents, and contract rescission based on misrepresentation. She has lectured, conducted trial advocacy training sessions, and provided in-house instruction to clients, trade groups, and other organizations. She speaks on topics including fraud prevention, deposition tactics, and other aspects of litigation.

Leatha is regularly named to the Minnesota Super Lawyers list in the area of business litigation. She is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants. She is a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only honor society limited to the top 0.5 percent of trial lawyers. Fellows are selected based on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, as well as superior ethical reputation. She was named an “Attorney of the Year” by Minnesota Lawyer in 2015.
