Biography

Lee Thaggard has been licensed to practice in Mississippi since 1992. He is admitted to practice in all Mississippi state courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi. He has earned a BV Distinguished Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, showing his high ethical commitment and legal knowledge. He joined the firm in 1994 and has served as the firm’s managing partner. His primary area of practice is civil litigation, with emphasis on public sector, employment law, civil rights defense, and products liability. He is an authorized agent of Mississippi Valley Title Insurance Company.

Mr. Thaggard is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the American Bar Association, the Bar Association for the Fifth Federal Circuit, and the Mississippi Bar. He is a member and past secretary of the Lauderdale County Bar Association. He has served as a Director for the Young Lawyers Division of the Mississippi Bar, as well as past president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Lauderdale County Bar.

Mr. Thaggard earned a B.P.A. in accounting from Mississippi State University in 1987 and his J.D., cum laude, in 1992 from the University of Mississippi School of Law. In law school, he was a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi and served on the staff of the Mississippi Law Journal. He authored the comment "DNA Fingerprinting: Overview of the Impact of the Genetic Witness on the American System of Criminal Justice," published at 61 Mississippi Law Journal 423 (1991). During 1992-94, he served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Walter J. Gex, III of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.

Mr. Thaggard serves on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Optimist Club of Meridian, Mississippi, and is past president of the Stonebriar Property Owners Association. He has over 30 years of military service primarily in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Mr. Thaggard is qualified as an Army aviation officer, as an Army judge advocate, and is a veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a lifetime member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Guard Association of the United States. Mr. Thaggard and his family attend Northpointe Presbyterian Church in America.
