Biography

Leo is a Sacramento native and the son of Mexican immigrants. Leo earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in Political Science and Spanish. Leo moved back to Sacramento and was hired as a Senior Administrator for the Federal Public Defender's Office in Sacramento. Leo served as an auditor for the federal conflict panel and was a member of various rule drafting committees.After four years at the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Leo attended law school at the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Leo served in various campus clubs and participated in various pro bono legal programs, including the McGeorge's immigration clinic and the Sacramento County Public Defender's Externship program. During his time at McGeorge, Leo appeared on the Dean's Honor's List, was the recipient of the William Russel Knudson Scholarship for Leadership in Law, received the Outstanding Student Service Award for the class of 2019, enrolled in trial advocacy courses, and was a student member of the prestigious Justice Anthony M. Kennedy American Inn of Court.Leo began his career working on complex white-collar matters before taking on the role as in-house counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. This position gave Leo substantial and valuable early experience, including taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing complex legal motions, and mediating and settling complex civil disputes.When not practicing law, Leo enjoys restoring classic muscle cars, hiking, and brewing beer.
