Linda is an experienced trial attorney, having tried close to 100 jury trials. She focuses on defending employers and individuals who are sued for wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and harassment. Linda has represented health care, legal, retail, and public sector employers for over 35 years.
She frequently lectures to management groups, administrators, judges, and physician groups as well as various bar sponsored groups. She also serves as a volunteer court appointed mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s mediation program.
Linda also serves on UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation Board of Directors and the Loyola Law School Board of Directors.
Experience
Ms. Savitt specializes in defending lawsuits on behalf of employers and supervisors who are sued for terminating employment. Such claims include wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment and retaliation. She is a frequent speaker at bar associations and legal seminars. In 2020 she was the Los Angeles Chapter of ABOTA’s nominee for CAL-ABOTA Trial Lawyer of the Year.
She has tried over 100 jury and court trials, as well as numerous arbitrations, 90% of which are employment cases, with mostly punitive damages allegations.
She is a Diplomate level member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a member of the American Employment Law Council and former President of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Linda has achieved successful results for employers in defending a variety of employment litigation claims, including:
•Receiving a defense verdict in a 21 day trial involving claims for wrongful termination, hostile work environment, retaliation, and misclassification as an exempt employee. The jury returned the verdict in 3 hours. Prior to trial, the plaintiff rejected a $300,000 settlement offer.
•Receiving a defense verdict for the employer in Fisher v. San Pedro Peninsula Hospital (1989) 214 Cal.App.3d 590.
•Obtaining a $450,000 judgment for the individual defendant on a cross-complaint against the plaintiff as well as an award of attorneys’ fees in Saret-Cook v. Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley and Jennett (1999) 74 Cal.App.4th 1211, after the plaintiff lost on claims of sexual harassment and sex discrimination. In addition to being admitted to practice law in California, she is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts in California.
