Biography

Lisa Johnson-Firth has been practicing Immigration Law exclusively since 2002, and before that time she was a corporate lawyer. She founded Immigrants First, PLLC in 2004, a law firm devoted entirely to holistic immigration law representation.

She is currently an Adjunct Law Professor at Georgetown Law Center on Immigration Law and is a former Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at George Mason University and an Adjunct Professor International Law at Randolph-Macon College.

She was the Director of Legal Services for Immigrant Women, Tahirih Justice Center (2003-2004); Director of Legal Services for Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative, Institute for Policy Studies (2002-2003); and former Corporate Law Associate at Mintz Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, Boston in the firm's Boston, MA Office.

Ms. Johnson-Firth is active in the Community and has won several awards for her leadership in immigration law. Her service includes: Board Member for ACTS/Turning Points Domestic Violence Services; Board Member for BEACON English as a Second Language Program; Board Member and Immigration Issues Advisor for Unity in the Community; Board Member for Unitarian Universalist Region-Wide Board Member on Social Justice, Immigration Committee; Amnesty International Stop Violence Against Women Campaign Coordinator for Virginia (2004-2008); and Prince William Leadership.

Ms. Johnson-Firth is a frequent trainer and speaker on immigration and human rights law for community leaders, lawyers, judges, law enforcement agencies, and service providers and has provided "Know Your Rights and Immigration Basics" information to more than 6,000 immigrants during more than 60 presentations.
