M. Ella Russell

Ella Russell is an attorney at Sevila, Saunders, Huddleston, & White P.C., specializing in family and immigration law. In her family law practice, she prioritizes her clients’ goals, conducting a thorough cost-benefit analysis to inform client decisions and employing a tailored approach to each case. Ms. Russell handles a variety of family matters, including divorce, custody and visitation, support, equitable distribution, protective orders, marital agreements, retirement/pension division, same-sex marriage and divorce, international divorce and custody issues, and adoption.

In immigration law, Ms. Russell draws from her personal experience as a first-generation immigrant to provide compassionate and effective representation. She advocates for clients in family-based petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases, asylum applications, and citizenship matters. Licensed in Virginia and Maryland, she is fluent in Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian, with conversational proficiency in Spanish.

Community Leadership

Ms. Russell is dedicated to community service, serving as President of the Loudoun Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (VWAA) and as a former Board Member of the Washington Council of Lawyers (WCL) (2022-2023). She was recognized as a Virginia Rising Star for 2024 by Super Lawyers for her contributions to the legal field.

Pro Bono and Law School Experience

During law school, Ms. Russell was actively involved in pro bono work, including serving as an Equal Justice Works Fellow with Legal Services of Greater Miami, interning with the Public Defender's Office, participating in the Immigration Litigation Clinic, and volunteering with Just Neighbors.
