Biography

Mieke Driscoll focuses her legal practice in the areas of business and corporate law, real estate, municipal and school law, and non-profit law.

She assists her non-profit clients through the process of forming an entity, structuring a board of directors, drafting bylaws, and obtaining tax-exempt status.  She also provides counsel to these organizations to ensure they meet and maintain state requirements and complex IRS regulations as a tax-exempt organization including annual reporting along with corporate and tax filings.

In representing her municipal and school clients, her objective is clear - to help her clients achieve their missions as public servants.   She represents her clients aggressively, but also remembers that her public sector clients have a public mission to perform.  She routinely drafts ordinances, resolutions and contracts, and advises council members, elected and appointed officials and employees in matters such as open meeting laws, planning, zoning, and other land use issues, personnel, Right-to-Know law, and other matters.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

A graduate of the Dickinson School of Law, Mieke brings a lot of experience with her, both in law and in life.  Raised in York, a graduate from York Catholic High School, she has always been active in supporting various community efforts and programs.  Her strong ethic of service to others extends beyond her community to her clients, as well.

Prior to law school, Mieke dedicated one year of her life to full-time volunteer service with Holy Cross Associates, a post-graduate program which offers participants an opportunity to integrate their Christian faith through service, simple living, spiritual discovery and community action.  She lived and worked in Oregon, in a shelter serving homeless and indigent people to focus on bettering themselves and valuing their lives.  Mieke has brought that ethic of service into her professional life.  She has a keen awareness of external perceptions and uses her legal knowledge coupled with her commitment to meeting client needs to guide her in building strong relationships based on trust and integrity.

Mieke lives in York with her husband and their three children.  She is an active supporter and participant in numerous civic and social organizations.  Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the YWCA as president and serves as secretary of the Board of Directors for Crispus Attucks.  She is a past president of the YWCA Junior Board of Directors. In 2008, the YWCA recognized Mieke as a Young Woman Who Makes A Difference.  Mieke is dedicated to giving back to her community and is passionate about improving the lives of others in our community.
