With over a decade dedicated to Family Law, Maria N. Testa
has garnered recognition as a Super Lawyer's "Rising Star" in
Pennsylvania, a distinction awarded to a mere two-and-a-half percent of
attorneys annually. Focused solely on family law and divorce matters within the
Pennsylvania Bar, Maria adeptly handles issues ranging from child support and
custody to spousal support and alimony. Renowned for her adeptness in oral
argument and her effective courtroom presence, Maria's pragmatic yet assertive
approach is esteemed by both judges and peers. She brings to bear her expertise
not only in litigation but also in negotiation, often incorporating mediation
and expert consultation in complex custody and divorce cases.
Maria earned her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University
School of Law after completing a minor in legal studies at the University of
Rochester. Committed to giving back, she provides pro bono legal assistance to
disabled and low-income clients, volunteering with esteemed organizations like
the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, the American Red Cross, and the Philadelphia
Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP), where she was recognized as the
Volunteer of the Month in July 2011.
In addition to her pro bono work, Maria is an active member
of several professional associations, including the American Bar Association,
the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association. Within
the Philadelphia Bar Association, she is involved in both the Family Law
Section and the Family Law Custody Committee. She also participates in the
Nicholas A. Cipriani Family Law Inn of Court and is a member of the National
Association of Women Business Owners.
Maria's dedication to her field is further evidenced by her
speaking engagements and accolades. She has presented on various topics related
to family law practice and procedure and has been recognized as a Top Family
Law Attorney by Suburban Life Magazine. Her consistent recognition as a Super
Lawyers Rising Star from 2015 to 2021 attests to her ongoing commitment to
