Biography

Attorney Marisa Higgins, founding partner of Higgins & Plante, P.L.L.C., represents clients throughout Massachusetts in family and probate matters with an emphasis on practical, client-focused solutions. A Holy Cross graduate (B.A., 1999) and Villanova Law alumna (J.D., 2002), Marisa edited the Villanova Environmental Law Journal and received an award for excellence in trial advocacy. Her practice encompasses contested divorce, child custody and support, post‑judgment modifications, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and appellate advocacy. In Probate & Family Court she handles partition petitions, equity matters, and guardianship/conservatorship cases, and she has particular skills in divorces involving special‑needs children and public‑benefits issues. Marisa also serves as a mediator and conciliator, speaks regularly at legal education events, and volunteers through the Volunteer Lawyers Service and Worcester County Bar Association. A member of the Worcester County Bar, she has been recognized as a Rising Star, a 40 Under Forty honoree, and a Woman of Distinction.
