Marissa Giovenco

Marissa Giovenco is a San Antonio criminal defense lawyer and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys with more than 14 years of criminal law experience. She represents clients throughout San Antonio, Bexar County, the Greater San Antonio area, and South Texas who are facing misdemeanor and felony criminal charges.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Giovenco spent more than a decade as a prosecutor, including nearly nine years as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. She handled a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases and gained extensive trial experience evaluating evidence, preparing cases, and presenting matters before Bexar County judges and juries.

Her background also includes service with the Bexar County Magistrate’s Office and work with the U.S. Small Business Administration on federal disaster relief matters, giving her a broad understanding of government agencies and legal procedures.

Since transitioning to criminal defense, Ms. Giovenco has represented individuals across San Antonio and surrounding communities, including Bexar County and South Texas. At Michael & Associates, she focuses on DWI, assault, family violence, drug crimes, theft, weapons charges, probation violations, and serious felony cases.

Drawing on her experience inside the Bexar County criminal justice system, Ms. Giovenco understands how prosecutors build cases and uses that insight to identify weaknesses in the State’s evidence, challenge legal issues, and develop trial-ready defense strategies tailored to each client’s circumstances.
