Biography

Mark S. Gunnison is a principal in the firm. He has been practicing law since 1981 primarily in all phases of litigation involving commercial, employment, banking, personal injury and workers compensation law.

Mark has represented clients through all phases of litigation involving a jury and court trials on both the state and federal levels in Kansas and Missouri, and has argued cases before the appellate courts in Missouri and Kansas as well as in the Eighth Circuit and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals on the federal level.

Mark attended the University of Kansas, obtaining his undergraduate degree in 1978 and his Juris Doctorate in 1981. Mark is admitted to practice before the state courts in Kansas, the Federal District Court in Kansas, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also litigated in various state and federal courts around the country on a visiting basis.

Mark is a member of the Johnson County, Kansas and American Bar Associations, the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Mr. Gunnison is a certified civil mediator having received his certification from the Kansas Supreme Court. He has participated in scores of mediations in his practice in a variety of cases. He is excited to offer his services as a certified mediator and bring his 36 plus years of experience in the litigation arena to help others find ways to resolve cases. He is available for mediation and arbitration in civil matters, including those involving personal injury, business litigation, construction litigation, employment discrimination and related litigation, and worker’s compensation. Additionally, Mr. Gunnison is able to host mediations at Payne & Jones’ recently refurbished mediation center on the first floor of its offices. This mediation center can accommodate large or small groups with large conference rooms and multiple break-out rooms and up to date technological needs.
