Biography

Martin Flayhart received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1974. Previously, he received his B.A. degree with honors from the University of Virginia in 1971, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. During 1969-1970, he studied in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh.

He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He has appeared and argued a case before the United States Supreme Court.

Martin practices law primarily in the areas of social security disability, personal injury, municipal law and real estate.

He is a member of the Lock Haven Rotary Club and has been a past president of this organization. Martin is also a member of the Jersey Shore Area Chamber of Commerce and is a current board member and past president.

He has taught several legal courses as an adjunct faculty member at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, PA and at Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA. He has also been a legal advisor to the student team for the Mock Trial Competition at Jersey Shore High School.

As a hobby, he plays clarinet in the Repasz Band of Williamsport, PA, which is the oldest civilian band in the United States having been founded in 1831. He and his wife live in Cogan Station, PA with their mixed border collie-black Labrador, Cody.
