Biography

Martin Block is a senior partner of the firm and is one of the few trial attorneys in the State of New York that has been certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Specialist, which requires recommendations from at least three Judges and attorneys against whom he has tried cases. Mr. Block has been with the Sanders firm since 1985.

Mr. Block has handled numerous cases that resulted in recoveries in excess of $1 million dollars including a case for an infant who suffered lead poisoning which resulted in a jury verdict of $2,000,000.00 which was affirmed by the Appellate Division of the State of New York. He obtained a jury verdict of $1,660,000 for a young motorcyclist injured in a motor cycle accident. He recovered an award of $3,000,000.00 for a young boy blinded by a defective toy.

In 2008, 2009 and again 2010, Mr. Block was listed in New York Super Lawyers Metro Edition. He was elected Chairman of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations for the years 2002-2003. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association of Justice.

Mr. Block received recognition from the Association of Trial Lawyers of America for his efforts as a member of Trial Lawyers Care, a collective of experienced trial lawyers who provided free representation to the families of victims of the World Trade Center disaster on September 11, 2001. Mr. Block represented a young man whose mother perished on that date.

Mr. Block is featured in Who's Who is American Law 4th and 10th Editions; Who's Who in the East, 21st Edition; Who's Who in America, 2000, Who's Who in the World, 8th Edition, and Who's Who in Society, 1986. He is admitted to practice in all of the New York State Courts and has argued in the State's highest Appellate Court, the Court of Appeals as well as the Appellate Division's First and Second Department. He is also admitted in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

In the course of his career, he has handled a myriad of the firm's civil litigation trials, but now focuses on cases involving construction accidents, product liability, and infant lead poisoning.
