Martin Jones

Martin Jones is a highly experienced attorney handling the most complex and challenging matters, such as death penalties, where the jury completely dismissed the allegations in most of the cases.

Martin Jones has two decades of experience as a Criminal Defense Attorney. Prior to leaving the Placer Public Defender’s Office he was the Assistant Chief Defense Attorney and Felony Supervisor. Martin left the Public Defender’s office because he wanted to have more time to focus on individual client needs. He believes that excellent representation requires clients to have the ability to access and communicate with their attorney. He believes that clients are not just numbers to be processed, but people who deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. Martin has an impeccable reputation and thrives on getting the best result possible, no matter what the charges are.

Martin Jones has handled more than almost 70 jury trials and represented thousands of clients. He has handled all types of cases from DUIs, theft, fraud, drug possession and trafficking, arson, domestic violence, evading the police, assaults with deadly weapons, weapons offenses, criminal threats, sexual assault, kidnapping, and murder. He has is qualified to handle cases involving the death penalty and has handled several high-profile cases where he was able to save his clients from death row. He is experienced in handling matters involving highly specialized areas of the law such as sexually violent predators and mentally disordered offenders.

Martin received a bachelor’s in science Degree in Biochemistry, and his training gives him deep insight into cases with complex forensic evidence, including DNA and medical evidence. Martin served as a clerk to esteemed jurist William F. Rylaarsdam in the 4th District Court of Appeal and wrote several opinions for the Appellate Court. He regularly attends capital case training and is a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College Defense of the Damned training in 2018.

Martin is an avid cyclist who enjoys giving back to the cycling community as a Board Member of the California Bicycle Coalition. He is also a beginning runner who gets plenty of miles attempting to train his energetic Brittany Spaniel JoJo.
