Biography

Mary Ann Barnes received her Bachelor of Arts degree from James Madison University in 1983 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Paralegal Studies. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Delaware Law School in 1988. During law school, she clerked for the Wilmington, Delaware law firm of Doroshow & Pasquale. The first eleven years of Ms. Barnes law practice was spent representing plaintiffs' in personal injury and product liability matters. Since joining her partners, William Tucker and Yvonne Griffin in 1999, she has expanded her practice. Her current practice areas include Social Security Disability, Estate Planning/Will Drafting and Family Law. In the Family Law department she handles Adoptions and Prenuptial Agreements. Her Adoption practice includes international, parental placement, agency placement, family placement, consent adoptions and non-consent adoptions.

She is a member of the Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives. She is on the Board of Directors for the Aids Services Group and serves on the Human Rights Committee for Region Ten. She resides with her family in Albemarle County and is active in the community.
