Matthew A. Bradford, Attorney at Law

Serving West Virginia Residents in Raleigh, Mercer, and Nearby Counties

Matthew A. Bradford, founding partner of Bradford & Gray, PLLC, is a proud native of Beckley, West Virginia, where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2002. A dedicated student and community leader, Matthew attended Marshall University from 2002 to 2006 as a West Virginia Promise Scholar, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (Legal Studies) and a minor in Chemistry. During his time at Marshall, he was a Resident Advisor for three years, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and was honored by his peers as Mr. Marshall in 2005 for his academic excellence and service to the university community.

In 2006, Matthew continued his education at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan, concentrating in Litigation. While in law school, he served as a Senator in the Student Bar Association, a member of the Moot Court Board, and both a competitor and judge in the Intra-School Moot Court Trial Competition. He earned a Mediation Certification from the Oakland Mediation Center in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and completed a legal internship with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, where he gained valuable courtroom and research experience. Matthew earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2009.

After law school, Matthew returned home to Beckley to begin his legal career alongside now-Partner Kyle G. Lusk. He was admitted to the West Virginia Bar in 2010 and is licensed to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. After years of dedication and advocacy, Matthew became a Partner at Bradford & Gray, PLLC in 2015.

In 2017, his peers in Raleigh and Wyoming counties elected him to represent District 9 on the Young Lawyers Executive Committee for the West Virginia State Bar, a prestigious three-year appointment recognizing his commitment to the legal profession and community service.

Matthew’s practice focuses on personal injury, family law, and criminal defense, where he provides knowledgeable, compassionate, and results-oriented representation to clients across southern West Virginia.

Outside the office, Matthew enjoys traveling, training in martial arts, hiking, playing and watching sports, and spending time with his wife, Valerie, and their pets Casey, Racko, and Baby.
