About Attorney Awards

Biography

Matt Bonilla has been with Trust Guss Injury Lawyers since 2016 and now leads the firm’s strategic planning, legal compliance, operational management, and cross-departmental growth as Chief Operating Officer. His passion for personal injury law runs in his family — he grew up watching relatives practice in the field and witnessed first-hand the impact a dedicated attorney can have on someone facing hardship. A National Hispanic Scholar, Matt holds a BBA in Finance from SMU Cox School of Business, an MBA from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas, and his JD from South Texas College of Law Houston. He is a four-time Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star — a peer-nominated honor awarded to no more than 2.5% of Texas attorneys — and an active member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, and National Trial Lawyers. His practice has focused on personal injury including catastrophic injury and wrongful death, with deep experience in litigation, negotiation, and prelitigation strategy.

Helping people after a serious injury takes more than legal knowledge. It takes trust, compassion, and a team committed to putting clients first.

As Chief Operating Officer at Trust Guss Injury Lawyers, Matthew Bonilla helps lead the firm’s operations, working to ensure every client receives the responsive communication, support, and advocacy they deserve. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in personal injury law, he works alongside the firm’s attorneys and staff to strengthen the systems, technology, and processes that help clients navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with confidence.

Based in Houston, Matthew is passionate about building a client-first culture where trust is earned through honesty, follow-through, and genuine care for the people the firm serves. Whether he’s helping improve the client experience, supporting the firm’s legal teams, or mentoring those around him, his focus remains the same: doing the right thing and helping ensure every client receives the care, communication, and support they need after an injury.
