Meet Matthew E. Romanik, an esteemed attorney and the
longest continuously board-certified workers' compensation lawyer in Volusia
County, Florida. With a passion for legal advocacy and a commitment to serving
his community, Matthew has established himself as a respected figure in the
legal profession.
Roots in Florida:
Matthew's journey in Florida began when his family relocated from Pennsylvania
to Lakeland, Florida, just before he started elementary school. Graduating from
Lakeland High School in 1988, he excelled academically, ranking in the top 3%
of his class while contributing his musical talents to the Dreadnaughts
marching band as a tenor drum player.
A Stellar Academic Journey:
Matthew's academic prowess led him to the University of Florida, where he
pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and a Bachelor of Arts degree
in political science. Remarkably, he accomplished these degrees in less than
four years, graduating in 1992. While studying, Matthew also made significant
contributions to the Soil Science department, focusing on soil hydrology
experiments to aid farmers in optimizing water usage sustainably.
Legal Studies and Dedication:
Intrigued by the University of Florida's overall excellence and motivated to
complete the statewide soil hydrology mapping project, Matthew was accepted
into the Levin College of Law at the same university. Balancing his studies and
the hydrology project, he obtained his law degree in 1995. His dedication to
both pursuits exemplified his commitment to academic and professional
excellence.
A Distinguished Legal Career:
Since becoming a member of the Florida Bar in October 1995, Matthew has
maintained his legal practice in Volusia County. He has primarily represented
plaintiffs and claimants in various legal matters, including workers'
compensation claims, employment discrimination cases, personal injury lawsuits,
disability claims, and Fair Labor Standards Act cases.
Contributions to the Community:
Matthew actively engages with his community by serving as a Board Member of the
City of Daytona Beach's Historical Preservation Board, the Halifax Historical
Society, the Halifax Heritage Byway and Trails, and the Health Planning Council
of Northeast Florida, Inc. His dedication to his profession is evident through
his memberships in the Florida Justice Association and the Florida Chapter of
the National Employment Lawyers Association.
Balancing Life and Achievements:
When not diligently representing his clients, Matthew finds solace and rejuvenation
in outdoor activities such as bicycling, kayaking, hiking, and boating,
relishing the beauty of Florida's diverse environment. However, his most
cherished accomplishment to date is being a proud and devoted father to his
intelligent, kind, and witty gymnast daughter, whose growth and maturity bring
him immeasurable joy.
Recognitions and Associations:
Matthew's exceptional legal skills have earned him recognition as Peer Review
Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and he is board-certified in workers' compensation
by the Florida Bar. He actively contributes to the legal community as a Board
Member of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association,
President of the National Employment Lawyers Association (Florida chapter), and
a member of the Florida Justice Association, Volusia County Bar Association,
and the Florida Bar.
Matthew E. Romanik's remarkable career journey, dedication to his clients, and
commitment to community service exemplify the qualities of an esteemed attorney
and a respected member of the legal profession in Volusia County and beyond.
