Matthew S. Brown

Matthew Brown, Partner and Chair of the Litigation Practice Group, joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP in 2008 and concentrates his practice on insurance coverage, business litigation, securities and intellectual property. Matt represents clients in court (including hearings seeking injunctive relief), arbitration, mediation and various regulatory and administrative proceedings. He has successfully argued cases in the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, numerous Federal District Courts throughout the United States, various Ohio Appellate Courts and trial courts throughout Ohio.Formerly employed by one of Ohio’s largest property and casualty insurers, Matt has extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and the impact of coverage. His broad insurance coverage experience ranges from property and casualty, errors and omission, directors and officers, and commercial general liability. His experience has enabled him to become a Certified Specialist in Insurance Coverage Law through the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA). He is licensed to practice in Ohio, Michigan, and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, Northern District of Ohio, Western District of Michigan and Eastern District of Michigan.
