Biography

Maya practices civil litigation with a focus on insurance defense and personal injury law. She joined Whitelaw Twining as an associate in 2021. Prior to starting at the firm, Maya practiced at two boutique insurance defence firms where she gathered experience defending a variety of bodily injury claims. Maya has attended in chambers at the Supreme Court of British Columbia and as a junior to counsel at the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

Maya articled with one of the province’s leading insurance defense firms in downtown Vancouver. While there, she obtained experience in a variety of different areas of law, including: motor vehicle litigation, subrogation, product liability, employment and human rights law.

Maya understands the importance of cost-effective and alternative solutions to dispute resolution. She is skilled at settling claims through negotiations and mediations.

While at Thompson Rivers University, Maya was an active member of the Black Law Students Association (“BLSA”) and served as the Outreach Coordinator. BLSA provided a platform for her to pursue her passion for social justice.

Outside of the law, Maya enjoys Netflix binging, ordering in and quality time with family and friends.
