Biography

Melanie Thomas is a partner and experienced trial attorney at WSHB's offices in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada. She specializes in defending healthcare providers and medical facilities against malpractice and wrongful death lawsuits. Melanie has extensive experience in first-chairing trials and arbitrations, as well as significant mediation experience. Her background includes representing healthcare providers in regulatory matters before state boards and litigating cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, and 1983 claims.

In recognition of her achievements as a medical malpractice attorney, Melanie has been honored as a Mountain States Super Lawyer 'Rising Star' from 2020 to 2023. This honor is awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state and is based on a multiphase process, including a statewide survey of lawyers, independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area.

Melanie's legal career began as a paralegal in Detroit, Michigan. After law school, she moved to Southern Nevada, where she focused on defending healthcare providers in medical negligence litigation. She also has experience representing individuals in high-stakes personal injury cases, giving her valuable insights into the plaintiff attorney's mindset. After returning to the defense side, Melanie has since devoted her practice to advocating for the interests of her healthcare provider clients before licensing boards and the court.
