Biography

Melvin J. Babi serves as the managing partner of Babi Legal Group, P.L.L.C., where he provides expert advice on a broad range of legal, business, and compliance matters.

As chief legal officer, Melvin oversees legal issues and best-practices for all departments, including legal drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements including manufacturing, distribution, employment, licensing, joint venture, supply and complex intellectual property agreements. Melvin also oversees compliance, consulting services, marketing, sales, finance, human resources, corporate governance, and business policy.

Melvin also serves as managing partner of Babi Legal Group, P.L.L.C., a respected general practice law firm in Farmington Hills, Michigan. In his private practice, Melvin advises consumers and small businesses in areas including business law, bankruptcy, debt-resolution, real estate law, corporate law, contract drafting and negotiating and criminal and civil litigation.

His prior experience includes distinction as the most productive attorney within the largest bankruptcy law firm in Michigan. He completed clerkships for the 48th District Court of Michigan in Bloomfield Hills and HSM Law Offices in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Melvin earned a J.D. from the University of Detroit’s Mercy School of Law. While in law school, he participated in a study abroad program through the University of Baltimore, where he studied European Union law and international business law.

Melvin was admitted to the Michigan State Bar in 2007 and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2008. He is a member of the American Bar Association and Chaldean American Bar Association.

He received a BA in business administration and corporate finance from Wayne State University, where he graduated Cum Laude and was a Golden Key scholar.

Melvin’s legal education, experience, and business management background have given him a keen ability to apply legal concepts to corporate growth strategies. He uses his legal agility to help companies drive profits while mitigating risks and protecting assets.

A devoted family man, Melvin enjoys spending quality time with his family, a regular member of the gym and always trying to improve his mediocre golf skills.
