Biography

Mike McLaren is trial attorney with experience in federal and state litigation, commercial litigation, professional liability, insurance coverage, vaccine injury litigation, environmental law, construction law, fidelity and surety law, and creditors rights.

A native of Joliet, Illinois, Mr. McLaren received his B.A. at Yale University in 1972. While at Yale, he was a three-year letterman of the basketball team. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago in 1976.

Mr. McLaren was Executive Vice-President and General Counsel at Wright Medical Technology, Inc., in 1998 while maintaining his private practice. A sought-after speaker, Mr. McLaren frequently lectures on litigation topics.

He is a member of the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations and a faculty member at the International Association of Defense Counsel, Trial Academy, 1997. Mr. McLaren is admitted to practice law in federal courts in Tennessee, Washington D.C., and has handled cases in Tennessee, Arkansas, Washington, D.C., New York, Kentucky, California, and other states.

His many awards include selection as a Fellow of the American Bar Association, as a Mid-South Super Lawyer, 2005-2022, and recognition by The Best Lawyers of America, 2015-2024, where he was also named "Lawyer of the Year, Medical Malpractice-Defendants" in 2020.

Outside of the office, Mr. McLaren is a member of many charitable boards and sat on the National Congressional Advisory Committee on Childhood Vaccines from 1998 to 2001. In addition to his legal career, Mr. McLaren has appeared in A Time to Kill, The Firm, The People v. Larry Flynt, and other feature films.
