Biography

Michael Beck is senior counsel in WSHB’s Tampa, Florida office. He represents clients in both first and third-party insurance matters and counsels insurers regarding coverage analysis, bad faith exposure, and all aspects of insurance litigation. Michael has extensive experience in first-party claims involving hurricanes, windstorms, hail losses, fires, sinkholes, plumbing failures, and appraisals for both residential and commercial properties, including conducting examinations under oath and assessing and responding to civil remedy notices. He also has experience defending clients in automobile, premises, and general liability cases. Michael is a proponent of aggressive motion practice and has frequently effected either dismissal or nominal settlement of litigation in favor of clients in both civil and criminal contexts.

Prior to joining WSHB, Michael’s practice involved insurance defense in St. Petersburg, Florida and criminal defense in Fort Myers, Florida. He earned his juris doctor from the University of Miami, and received his undergraduate degree in political science from Brigham Young University. Michael is fluent in Mandarin Chinese after living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from 2006-2008.
