Over the past decade, Michael Flanagan has dedicated his
legal practice to exclusively representing victims of negligence and corporate
misconduct in civil litigation. At the remarkable age of 29, he achieved a
significant milestone by securing a multi-million-dollar settlement in an
individual personal injury lawsuit against one of the world's largest
corporations, solidifying his status as one of the youngest lawyers in the
country to achieve such success as lead counsel in a single-event personal
injury case. In that same year, Michael established his own law firm with a
focus on advocating for individuals in cases against companies that fail to
uphold ethical standards.
Notably, Michael takes pride in his achievements in cases
deemed "unwinnable" by other legal professionals. In 2016, he secured
a $5.2 million result in a case rejected by eleven other plaintiff law firms.
In 2017, he obtained a $2 million result for a victim of medical malpractice in
a case turned down by two other law firms. Demonstrating his prowess in 2018,
Michael won a verdict against Geico Insurance Company, compelling them to pay
his client more than fifty times their highest pre-trial settlement offer. His
success continued in 2019 with a confidential multi-million-dollar settlement
of $3.75 million in a challenging brain injury case declined by two other law
firms. In the tumultuous year of 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael
secured over $10 million in settlements for his clients, ensuring their
financial stability during uncertain times. In 2021, he obtained a $2.75
million settlement for a premises liability accident resulting in a concussion
and a $1.25 million settlement in an insurance bad faith case where the
defendant's insurer failed to timely pay its $100,000 policy limits.
Michael's achievements have earned him numerous accolades
and recognition. In 2014, he was inducted into the Daily Business Review
Florida Verdicts Hall of Fame for his work in a $35 million wrongful death case
with Goldberg & Rosen, P.A. Recently, he was named "Top 40 Under
40" by the National Trial Lawyers Association and achieved a Top 100
Settlement in the United States for two consecutive years (2019 and 2020) as
recognized by Verdict Search. In 2020, Michael secured two of the top 50
settlements (No. 30 and 31) in the Southeastern United States, according to
Verdict Search.
A graduate of the University of Miami School of Law,
Michael's leadership qualities were evident as he served as the Attorney
General of the Student Bar Association for two consecutive years. He was also
elected as the clerk of the University of Miami School of Law chapter of the
Phi Delta Phi International Honors and Leadership Fraternity. Additionally, he
received the prestigious Who's-Who Among Students in American Colleges and
Universities Award.
In 2021, Michael merged his law firm with Zachary
Bodenheimer's, sharing a vision to provide the highest standard of legal
representation to victims of negligence and corporate misconduct. Their approach
involves developing personal relationships with clients and effectively
conveying their human stories to jurors. Michael, along with his wife Lauren,
resides and works in Coral Gables, proud parents of two wonderful children.
