Michael Vecchioni

Michael Vecchioni joined the Kitch firm in September 2018 after retiring from Ernst & Young as an Executive Director earlier in the year. Mr. Vecchioni is a principal in Kitch’s Detroit office. His practice is primarily focused on federal and state tax matters, particularly in the healthcare sector. Mr. Vecchioni has over forty years of professional experience focusing on sophisticated tax and various business needs of individuals and organizations. He has considerable expertise in providing tax and business transaction advice to tax exempt organizations.

Mr. Vecchioni is a frequent public speaker and instructor concerning healthcare and tax matters. He has been published in professional magazines such as Healthcare Financial Management and the AICPA’s The Tax Advisor, and has written chapters in various editions of the Michigan Nonprofit Association’s publication-the Michigan Nonprofit Management Manual.

Mr. Vecchioni is a licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan as well as the U.S. District Court of Eastern Michigan. Mr. Vecchioni is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Vecchioni was recognized in the 2025 and 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Tax Law.

Mr. Vecchioni received his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law and an LL.M. in Tax Law from Wayne State University Law School. He received a B.B.A. in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University.

Mr. Vecchioni is a board member for the Divine Child High School Alumni Association and Divine Child High School Alumni Association Foundation. He is also an advisory board member for the Michigan State University College of Law Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic.
