Biography

Mike Bowling has practiced law in Birmingham Alabama since obtaining his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1996. He began his practice with a large defense firm before leaving with several of his partners to start his own firm in 1998. Mr. Bowling's practice over the last 20 years has consisted primarily of work on the defense side, which gives him a unique perspective on how to best counter the arguments often made by defense counsel. His plaintiff practice began to grow over the last several years, which led to his recent decision to join Morgan & Morgan and represent plaintiffs, both businesses and individuals, full time. He has litigated cases for both the plaintiff and defense in 10 states and tried cases to verdict in five. Before leaving his firm to join Morgan & Morgan earlier this year he obtained several verdicts/settlements on behalf of plaintiffs.

These verdicts/settlements include a $5.75 million jury verdict in Georgia Federal Court against an engineering firm whose defective design work caused damage to an explosive facility located in Tennessee, a $7.3 million settlement in a breach of fiduciary duty case on behalf of two individuals whose business was stolen from them by unscrupulous business partners, a $2.5 million settlement on behalf of a family whose mother was killed in an accident involving an 18 wheeler, a $1 million dollar settlement against a medical device manufacturer in favor of a hospital and surgical practice, and a $500,000 settlement in favor of a family whose son was killed in an accidental shooting. While Mr. Bowling truly enjoys trying cases to verdict, his real love of the practice of law has always centered around the bond formed with clients as a result of helping them through some of the most difficult times of their lives. This is what led him to join Morgan & Morgan and dedicate himself to plaintiff practice for the remainder of his legal carrier.

Mr. Bowling has an AV rating through Martindale-Hubbell, the highest available to any lawyer. Over the years he has also served on the Council for Litigation Management, been a member of the Alabama Society of Explosives Engineers, served on the board of the local YMCA, and assisted with the trial team for the Cumberland School of Law located in Birmingham, Alabama.
