Biography

Scott grew up in Jackson, North Carolina, the county seat of Northampton County, and has served as county attorney for Northampton since 2014.

Scott joined Battle Winslow in 2001 and has practiced extensively in Bankruptcy Law, where he has represented businesses, banks, individuals and Chapter 7 trustees in bankruptcy matters pending under Chapter 7, 11 and 13 of the United States Bankruptcy Code, including obtaining relief from the automatic stay, contested Chapter 11 and 13 plan representation and related creditors’ rights litigation, the prosecution and defense of preference and fraudulent transfer actions, and appellate litigation before the North Carolina federal District Courts and the Fourth Circuit.

In 2013, Scott became a Certified Specialist in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and by the American Board of Certification. In addition, he serves as a successor Chapter 7 Trustee for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Scott has broad state court civil litigation experience and maintains an active foreclosure, collections and construction law practice focusing on creditors’ rights.
