Biography

Barrett A. Stern is a seasoned family law litigator and recognized leader in Collaborative Law. Admitted to the Texas Bar in 2002 after earning his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, he combines extensive courtroom, trial and negotiation experience with collaborative principles to secure optimal outcomes for clients in property and child-related matters. Barrett’s approach emphasizes setting clear short- and long-term goals—whether resolving asset divisions, business interests or custody, visitation and support issues—and then charting an efficient path to achieve them. A graduate of Syracuse University on academic scholarship and a former varsity soccer player, he was honored with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Academic Achievement Award and the Gamma-Van Raaite Award. Licensed in the Northern District of Texas since 2006, Barrett has been named a Texas Rising Star multiple times. He is active in the State Bar of Texas, local bar associations, the American Bar Association and Collaborative Law organizations, and volunteers as a youth soccer coach and board member of Legacy Senior Communities in Plano.
