Cade M. Gossett joined Buttram, Hawkins & Hopper in 2025, returning
to his hometown of Centre, Alabama to serve clients throughout Cherokee County
and the surrounding region. His practice spans a broad range of matters
including personal injury and torts, criminal defense, family law, probate and
estates, real estate transactions, and general civil litigation. Cade’s
approach is rooted in providing clear guidance, practical solutions, and
dedicated advocacy for individuals and families across northeast Alabama.
In addition to his civil and criminal defense practice, Cade was
appointed as the municipal prosecutor for the Town of Cedar Bluff, where he
represents the Town in misdemeanor, traffic, and ordinance enforcement matters.
Before joining BHH, Cade practiced with Ashcraft & Gerel in
Charleston, South Carolina, where he focused heavily on complex mass tort
litigation. His work primarily involved the Camp Lejeune Toxic Water
Litigation, representing service members and families impacted by decades of
water contamination at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. He managed claims in the
federal system and assisted in building large scale litigation strategy for
hundreds of clients.
Cade has also been selected to the 2026 South Carolina Rising Stars list,
an honor bestowed by Super Lawyers on only the top 2.5% of attorneys in South
Carolina who are under 40 or in practice for fewer than 10 years.
Law School
Cade earned his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law, where he
distinguished himself through leadership and service. He served as:
President of the Charleston
School of Law Ambassador Program
Vice President of the Trial
Advocacy Board
Senator of the Year for his
service as a 3L Senator in the Student Bar Association
He was also inducted into Phi Delta Phi legal honor society and competed
in multiple Sports Law competitions, reflecting both his commitment to ethical
practice and his long standing involvement in athletics.
Cade also gained significant practical experience during law school.
Through the Street Law Clinic, he taught weekly classes and coached students in
mock trial preparation. His additional clerkships exposed him to a wide range
of matters including probate, personal injury, estate planning, family law, and
criminal defense.
Beyond the Law
Sports and community service continue to be major parts of Cade’s life.
He previously served as Captain of the Charleston School of Law softball team,
and he has volunteered as a youth baseball and flag football coach, helping
foster growth, confidence, and teamwork in young athletes.
Outside the office, Cade enjoys spending time with his family including
his wife Emily and daughter Ellery, cheering on the Crimson Tide and staying
active in sports such as golf, pickleball and softball.
