Mr. David S. Carus: Attorney with Allen, Dyer, Doppelt & Gilchrist, P.A.

Biography

David Carus is a Registered Patent Attorney and business executive who advises companies on protecting and commercializing innovative technologies. Drawing on experience as both an intellectual property attorney and the chief executive of a growing aviation company, he provides practical, business-focused guidance on intellectual property strategy, patent prosecution, patent litigation, and aviation regulatory matters.

Mr. Carus works with companies developing complex technologies, including wireless communications systems, biometric sensing technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, and digital promotions and couponing technologies used in large-scale retail and e-commerce systems, as well as advanced aviation systems.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Carus is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of D&J Aviation, LLC, an award-winning flight training organization based in Central Florida. Under his leadership, the company grew from a single-aircraft startup into a multi-location aviation business with a fleet of more than 20 aircraft. His experience building and operating a technology-driven company provides valuable perspective when advising clients on how intellectual property strategy aligns with broader business and operational goals.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Carus worked in Test and Evaluation at Northrop Grumman, where he served on the flight test team supporting aerial ground surveillance and battle management systems on the Joint STARS E-8C aircraft platform. Drawing on his combined experience as an attorney, engineer, and executive, Mr. Carus advises clients on protecting innovation, navigating complex regulatory environments, and developing intellectual property strategies that support long-term commercial growth.
