Biography

F. Tim McCollum is an Alabama estate planning attorney with more than thirty years of combined legal and business ownership experience serving clients in Montgomery, Birmingham, and Central Alabama, focusing on wealth planning (wills, powers of attorney, advanced healthcare directives), business succession, and probate administration to protect family wealth and minimize taxes across generations. He provides comprehensive guidance on asset preservation, incapacity planning, and multi-state property considerations, with tailored plans for families, business owners, and seniors seeking clarity and control over end-of-life decision-making and wealth transfer.

Tim advises companies and nonprofit entities on formations, transactions, and dissolutions. He represents clients in civil litigation from trial through appeal in all Alabama state courts and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, handling contract disputes, landowner conflicts, wrongful death claims, and civil rights claims with an appellate-ready approach. His practice integrates transactional foresight with litigation strategy to mitigate risk and position matters for favorable outcomes at both trial and appellate levels.

Tim has served as an advisor to the Central Alabama Aging Consortium, teaching estate planning and elder-law seminars that addressed Medicaid planning, long-term care, and guardianship issues for seniors and caregivers in the region.

As a recognized leader in law and civil advocacy, Tim is a member of the United States Council on Civil Rights, reflecting a commitment to advancing equal rights and constitutional freedoms in alignment with the nation’s civil rights institutions and policy community. Tim and his wife, Carrie Ellis McCollum, were married on February 16, 2002, and reside in Pike Road, Alabama. He is the father of one son, Jay (May 6, 1993–December 31, 2012), and channels a legacy‑minded perspective into client counseling on planning, protection, and purposeful giving.
