Biography

Ian Ronderos’ relationship with Walton Lantaff Schroeder & Carson LLP began in January 2008, when he joined the firm as a law clerk while still a law student. He went on to graduate cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law, an experience he fondly recalls for both the academic rigor and the lifelong friendships it fostered. His intellectual roots, however, trace back to the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in The Classics. There, he studied rhetoric, Latin and Greek - disciplines that trained him to dissect language, synthesize complex ideas, and analyze competing assertions. This academic foundation informs the sharp legal reasoning that defines Mr. Ronderos’ practice today. Mr. Ronderos elevated to Junior Partner in 2013 and Senior Partner in 2022, thereafter assuming a leadership role as Co-Chair of the First Party Property Insurance Practice Group. In this role, he leads cases from initial pleadings through trial while also maintaining a substantial practice in liability litigation, guiding strategy at every stage across contexts.

Mr. Ronderos concentrates his practice on first party property insurance and liability matters, as well as complex business litigation, bad faith, coverage and subrogation disputes for insurance companies. A seasoned trial attorney, he has extensive jury and bench trial experience, including numerous first-chair roles. He thrives in analytically demanding cases, where a creative and nuanced understanding of the law is required.

His professional identity is best understood through three defining roles: the intellectual, the mentor, and the loyal ally. Mr. Ronderos’ intellectual depth is evident almost immediately - he can move seamlessly between complex case law, philosophical inquiry, and broader theoretical thinking in any given conversation. A lifelong academic, his curiosity remains as sharp as ever and central to his approach to the law.

Within the firm, Mr. Ronderos plays a critical role in associate development, training all attorneys entering the first party practice group. Inspired by his own mentor, Mr. Bernie Probst, he has found great purpose in cultivating the next generation of advocates. He views mentorship as both a privilege and a responsibility, ensuring that new attorneys translate academic knowledge into real-world excellence. Among his notable hires is a former associate who went on to serve as President of the Miami-Dade Bar Association - a source of particular pride.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Ronderos is widely admired for his character. Kind, measured and deeply loyal, he is a steady and welcoming presence within the firm. Mr. Ronderos is a trusted and accessible leader whose loyalty to colleagues, clients and the firm runs deep. He embraces Walton Lantaff’s family-oriented culture and maintains strong professional relationships with opposing counsel. Outside the office, he can often be found playing his Gibson Les Paul Standard or experimenting with Italian and Indian cuisine.

As your attorney, Mr. Ronderos brings professionalism, creativity and dedication to every matter. His attentiveness, paired with genuine care and intellectual prowess, makes him the ally clients want - and trust - by their side.
