Biography

Mr. Hoven earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Montana and his law degree from Lincoln University in San Francisco, California. He is a member of the Montana and California Bars, the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Mr. Hoven has been recognized for his work in personal injury defense and medical malpractice defense, and he was selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Mountain States Super Lawyers. Mr. Hoven is admitted to practice in federal courts in Montana and California as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Hoven has practiced in state and federal courts at trial and appellate levels, and he has practiced in various administrative forums and has served as an administrative law judge in a variety of state regulatory proceedings. Mr. Hoven's principal areas of practice include management of complex litigation in federal and state courts, with an emphasis on medical malpractice defense, environmental and natural resource litigation, administrative proceedings, and sports law. Mr. Hoven was the Assistant Attorney General, Montana Department of Business Regulation, 1978-1980. Assistant Attorney General, Montana Department of Justice, 1980-1984.
