Biography

Jason Franklin has tried dozens of lawsuits to a verdict on behalf of injured people and is frequently sought after as a speaker to teach other lawyers about trial law. Jason is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of The American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and has been repeatedly named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers and Texas Super Lawyers.

A Leader In The Profession

Jason Franklin is Past President of the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association (DTLA). DTLA is one of the largest local trial lawyer associations in Texas and is dedicated to empowering and supporting Dallas trial lawyers in achieving justice for those who have been harmed. Jason also sits on the Board of Directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization

Only approximately 2% of Texas attorneys are Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law. Lawyers certified in personal injury trial law are considered specialists in the field of Personal Injury. Those attorneys not board certified cannot claim to be specialists in the field. Jason Franklin has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law since 2011.

American Board of Trial Advocates

The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) dedicates itself to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. Membership in this prestigious group is by invitation only – to qualify, one must have tried a minimum number of jury trials to conclusion and be determined by the judges and opposing attorneys one has appeared against to be of high personal character and honorable reputation. ABOTA is one of the nation’s most effective organizations in championing the ethics, professionalism and principles of the legal profession, and Jason Franklin is honored to have been elected to membership of this select group.

Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation

Jason Franklin is honored to be a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Each year, the top 1/3 of 1% of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Election to the Fellows is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas. The nomination is based on outstanding contributions to the legal profession as well as a commitment to the community. Each nominee must be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Once elected, a Fellow is a part of a network of top attorneys in Texas representing various ages, backgrounds and practice areas, but all with clear agreement on the importance of professional integrity and promoting the cause of justice in Texas. The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the nation.

College of the State Bar of Texas

The College of the State Bar of Texas is an honorary society of lawyers who are among the best-trained attorneys in Texas. Members are qualified attorneys who are interested in both high ethical standards and improved training for all Texas attorneys. The College recognizes Texas lawyers who attend at least double the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) required by the State Bar of Texas.

Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum – Life Member

The Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum is one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members.

The National Trial Lawyers – Top 100 Trial Lawyers

The National Trial Lawyers – Top 100 Trial Lawyers is an invitation-only national organization composed of America’s Top Trial Lawyers. Membership is extended solely to the select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state who exemplify superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and profile as civil plaintiff or criminal defense trial lawyers. Jason Franklin has been a member since 2013.

Texas Super Lawyers

The Selection to Super Lawyers is made by Super Lawyers, a publication of Thomson Reuters. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. Only 5% of Texas attorneys are chosen for this honor in any given year. Jason Franklin has been selected for this honor on numerous occasions for over a decade.

Education with Honors

Jason graduated from Arizona State University Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He then obtained his Juris Doctor Law Degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law with several honors, including induction into SMU’s Barristers, as well as the National Order of Barristers. He received the Excellence in Advocacy Award for his participation on numerous Mock Trial and Moot Court teams. In addition, he served on the Computer Law Review and Technology Journal and served as Vice President of the Board of Advocates.

Personal

Jason is a single father to his daughter, Morgan. The experience of raising a daughter has taught him valuable lessons about life, relationships and “being present.” Jason is also active in his church, the First Unitarian Church of Dallas. As hobbies, Jason is an avid adventure sports and adventure travel enthusiast. He has walked the ground on all seven continents; has taken a highly memorable “polar bear plunge” in Antarctica; climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru; and has dived among great white sharks in South Africa. The many adventure sports he enjoys include skydiving, scuba diving, snow skiing, snowboarding, wake surfing and boarding, and mountain biking.
