Biography

John D. Saxon, Jr. ("Jay") joined Haskell Slaughter as an associate attorney after completing a federal clerkship with Judge Inge P. Johnson, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. He graduated cum laude from The University of Alabama School of Law, where he was an Executive Editor on the Alabama Law Review, a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board, a member of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court team, a member of the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, and a Fellow in the Blackburn Institute.

Mr. Saxon received a Master of Arts, with Merit, in International Relations and European Studies from Central European University of Budapest, Hungary, where he served for one year as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. Prior to his studies in Hungary, Jay graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Mr. Saxon has traveled to 60 countries, including three years studying and working in Hungary, and has served on international election observation missions in Ukraine and Afghanistan. He is a member of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and the Why Whisper Committee of the YWCA of Central Alabama, and serves as the Chair of the Princeton University Alumni Schools Committee for the State of Alabama. Mr. Saxon is also an Eagle Scout.

In his spare time, Mr. Saxon is an avid traveler, reader and film buff. He also recorded two studio albums with the Princeton Nassoons, his collegiate a cappella group.
