Introducing John J. Fioravanti: A Distinguished Advocate for Justice

Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on July 26, 1949, John J. Fioravanti embarked on a remarkable journey as a legal professional, leaving an indelible mark in the field of law. From his early education at the Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia, where he excelled as a student leader and athlete, to his academic accomplishments at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, John demonstrated a commitment to excellence that would define his legal career.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and ranking sixth in his graduating class, John continued his pursuit of justice at the Temple University School of Law, graduating in 1978. His passion for defending the rights of the accused led him to join the Bucks County Public Defender's Office in 1979, where he tirelessly represented clients and honed his skills in criminal defense.

Throughout his tenure as a public defender, John assumed various roles, including overseeing the juvenile court division and handling a multitude of criminal cases, both with and without juries. His dedication and expertise in the criminal field naturally led him to focus on death penalty litigation in 1982. Recognizing his exceptional abilities, John was appointed Deputy Public Defender in 1986, responsible for hiring new lawyers, providing trial training, and assigning cases.
