Biography

John T. Brumfield is a formidable advocate with a passion for sharp litigation, strategic negotiation, and efficient dispute resolution. Whether in the courtroom or at the negotiating table, he is known for his ability to assess complex legal issues quickly, craft compelling arguments, and secure favorable outcomes for his clients. His breadth of experience allows him to navigate the intricacies of both criminal and civil law with precision and professionalism.

Before joining WSHB, John built a strong reputation for his trial skills, court room advocacy, and legal acumen, as prosecutor and Senior Assistant-Solicitor General in the Cobb Judicial Circuit, where he managed a demanding, high-volume caseload, led and second-chaired numerous jury and bench trials, developed a complex motions practice, and assisted in the supervision and mentorship of junior attorneys. He further sharpened his litigation and negotiation skills at the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, where he handled high-conflict family law disputes; and, earlier in his career, he gained invaluable insight into risk assessment and claims resolution while practicing plaintiff’s insurance coverage and litigation. In addition, John has previously served as a licensed mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. This diverse experience has shaped him into a well-rounded and adaptable attorney, equally skilled in aggressive litigation and strategic settlement.

John earned his Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where he distinguished himself as a Staff Editor for the John Marshall Law Journal, a Moot Court and Mock Trial competitor, and a law clerk for the Hon. Jane C. Barwick in the Superior Court of Fulton County. His foundation in advocacy was further strengthened at Kennesaw State University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science, concentrating in Constitutional Law and International Relations, and earned a Certificate in Dispute Resolution—an academic background that honed his ability to think critically, negotiate effectively, and approach legal challenges with both creativity and precision. He is admitted to practice in all Georgia courts, including before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

With a reputation for thorough preparation, persuasive advocacy, and a keen ability to resolve disputes efficiently, John is committed to delivering exceptional legal representation, protecting his clients’ interests, and securing the most favorable outcomes possible.
