Biography

M. Clay Fostel, a native of Kermit, Texas, holds a deep-seated belief in the importance of helping people and contributing to the community, instilled in him from an early age within a legal family. Growing up in his father's law firm, he gained a comprehensive understanding of the law and witnessed firsthand the transformative impact attorneys can have on the lives of those in need, particularly those dealing with challenging personal injuries.

Choosing to stay in Texas for his education, Clay attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, majoring in psychology and minoring in business. This deliberate academic choice aimed to prepare him not only for the business aspects of legal practice but also to navigate the emotional nuances of legal casework. Drawing from the experiences of watching his father assist numerous injured victims, he recognized the significance of attorneys offering empathy and emotional support to clients undergoing both physical and emotional challenges.

Upon graduating from SMU in 1996, Clay swiftly gained admission to the South Texas College of Law in Houston. Over three years of dedicated effort, he earned his Juris Doctor in 1999 and successfully passed the state bar. Equipped with his degree and legal license, he commenced his career as a personal injury attorney, tackling cases across various domains such as auto accidents, trucking accidents, oilfield explosions, mesothelioma, and wrongful death.

With 22 years dedicated to personal injury and civil litigation, Clay honed his skills as a seasoned trial attorney, litigating numerous cases of varying scale, including one of the country's largest verdicts in 2004. His dedication to representing victims of asbestos exposure resulted in settlements exceeding $500,000,000, earning him a reputation as a fair, knowledgeable, and results-oriented attorney prioritizing the needs of each client.

In 2018, after years of contributing to other firms, Clay realized his dream of establishing The Fostel Law Firm. This endeavor reflects his commitment to serving personal injury victims by offering top-tier legal counsel combined with personalized service tailored to individual client needs. Inspired by his father's example, he remains dedicated to providing compassionate support and legal guidance, transcending the conventional role of a legal practitioner. For Clay, the essence of his profession lies in aiding and supporting clients, allowing them to focus on recovery and reclaiming their lives.
