Biography

Matthew Kaufmann is senior counsel in WSHB's Portland office. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on litigating commercial motor vehicle cases. Matt is skilled in handling a wide variety of cases from construction default to catastrophic loss from pre-suit to trial.

Matt’s practice has by and large focused on the defense of commercial motor vehicles, mainly school buses and semi-trucks, giving him a solid understanding of the legal framework in which these companies operate, and the common issues that arise with them during litigation. Additionally, Matt has developed a particular interest in medical causation issues, which has led him to be particularly proficient at discussing medical issues with experts and during treater depositions.
