Biography

Matthew Carney is a partner practicing in the area of civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury. He joined Carey Leisure & Neal from a statewide insurance defense firm where he gained valuable insight on the tactics employed by insurance companies to avoid paying claims on which money is rightfully owed. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Carney gained further understanding of insurance industry claims practices as a licensed insurance agent and commercial property and casualty underwriter.

Mr. Carney graduated from Stetson University College of Law with honors, where he was a recipient of the Victor O. Wehle Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Second District Court of Appeal under Judge Craig C. Villanti and for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida under Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson.
