Biography

Michael F. Gillen is a skilled family law attorney and has helped various families resolve their conflicts in the family court for two decades. He has achieved a BV® Distinguished™ rating from his peers through Martindale-Hubbell. His work is well respected by other attorneys, judges, and members of the bar.

Mr. Gillen has been an active member of the York County Bar Association since 1993 and served as president in 2008.

Michael Gillen was raised with great respect for hard work and family. He completed his undergraduate studies with honors at University of South Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1991. While completing his undergraduate studies, he was very active in student government, Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa, both leadership and academic honors societies.

After completing his legal education, Mr. Gillen spent two years as a prosecutor with the Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office before moving into private practice. After two years as an associate attorney, he opened his law firm in 1996. He is married to Margaret Peeler Gillen and together they have five children.
