Biography

Michael L. Littlejohn Jr. is the founder of Littlejohn Law, PLLC, a Charlotte, North Carolina–based law firm focused on employment law and civil rights litigation. He represents clients across North Carolina in matters involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, and constitutional violations.

Mr. Littlejohn is admitted to practice in North Carolina and before the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of North Carolina, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He earned his Juris Doctor from Charlotte School of Law in 2015. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Littlejohn was a member of the University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team, an experience that shaped his competitive drive and commitment to disciplined advocacy.

A substantial portion of Mr. Littlejohn’s practice is devoted to representing individuals who have suffered discrimination in the workplace or during the hiring process. He has extensive experience litigating employment discrimination claims and a strong record of success on behalf of employees. His practice also encompasses wrongful termination, workplace harassment, retaliation, and sexual assault claims. In addition, Mr. Littlejohn regularly prepares and reviews employment contracts and severance agreements, providing strategic guidance to employees navigating critical career transitions.

Mr. Littlejohn also maintains an active civil rights practice, representing individuals and families in cases involving police misconduct, wrongful death, false arrest, and other constitutional violations. In 2025, he represented the family of a juvenile who died by suicide while in Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office custody; the case resolved with the largest settlement in the history of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and resulted in substantive policy changes aimed at improving inmate welfare procedures. The outcome was covered by WBTV and other local news outlets.

His work has earned recognition from the North Carolina Business Journal’s Legal Elite, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America for Civil Rights, and Avvo.
