Biography

Mr. Hammond was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and has practiced law here for over 35 years since graduating Tulane Law School in 1987. He was a prosecutor for the Orleans Parish District Attorneys office where he served as the Head of the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s White Collar Crime Unit and Senior Trial Attorney from 1987 to 1990. As a prosecutor he investigated and prosecuted public corruption and fraud and handled all types of felony cases, including muder, rape, armed robbery and narcotics crimes. He tried over a 100 felony jury trials in a two year period.

Upon entering private practice in 1990, Mr. Hammond joined the law firm of Hebert Mouledoux & Bland where he practiced maritime litigation, including offshore accidents, Jones Act cases, general maritime law claims, collision, cargo, longshore cases and towing and barge accidents. Mr. Hammond later became a partner at Leake & Andersson handling insurance, casualty and commercial litigation. He started Hammond Law Firm in 2008 where his practice includes Personal Injury Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Maritime Litigation, Insurance Coverage, Commercial and Personal Lines Property, Commercial and Personal Lines General Liability, Transportation, Automobile, Inland Marine, Professional Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Employers Liability, Jones Act, General Maritime Law, Collision, Cargo, Workers Compensation and Subrogation.

Mr. Hammond’s devotion to and zealous representation of his clients, and his high professional and ethical standards has earned him an AV rating from his peers, the highest rating by Martindale Hubble.
