Biography

Robert Hoffman, is an attorney with over twenty-five years experience in family, civil and criminal law. Robert Hoffman has been a resident of Sarasota, Florida for eighteen years. Mr. Hoffman is a graduate of Fordham University and New York Law School. For over nine years, Mr. Hoffman was a trial court law clerk to the judiciary of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, Florida which includes Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto Counties. In his position with the Circuit Court, Mr. Hoffman personally researched and wrote thousands of orders for the judiciary on criminal cases from the least serious cases to death penalty cases. Mr. Hoffman was promoted to Child Support Hearing Officer/Magistrate in 2008, where he made rulings on thousands of child support cases and other family court matters. Mr. Hoffman, in addition to being admitted to the Florida Bar, is also admitted to the New York State Bar, and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Mr. Hoffman is also a Florida Notary, Certified Signing Agent and a Florida Licensed Real Estate Salesperson. Mr. Hoffman began his legal career in Queens, New York City and moved to Florida in 1995. Mr. Hoffman practiced in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough and Citrus county, Florida prior to his moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1998. Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Sarasota Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Sarasota Chapter. Mr. Hoffman’s personal interests outside the law are exercise, running 5K’s and travel.

Robert J. Hoffman was born in Franklin Square, New York and attended both college and law school in New York City. Mr. Hoffman has been a practicing attorney for 29 years, both in private practice and with the Legal Aid Society, New York City. Mr. Hoffman relocated to Saint Petersburg, Florida in 1995 and he settled in Sarasota, Florida in 1998, where he remains today. Mr. Hoffman has previously had the honor to serve the citizens of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in Sarasota and Manatee County as a General Magistrate and Child Suppport Hearing Officer for over eight years. Thereafter, Mr. Hoffman entered private practice primarily litigating family law cases including dissolution of marriages, domestic injunctions and civil litigation including debt collection, foreclosure litigation and breach of contract cases. When not in court, Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Sertoma of Greater Sarasota and a member of the Manasota Track Club.
