Biography

Ross Abbott is a personal injury attorney at Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers who brings nearly six years of diverse legal experience to his practice. His focus includes motor vehicle collisions, slip and fall cases, dog bites, and general negligence matters. Ross' background includes experience on both sides of civil litigation, giving him insight into how cases are evaluated from multiple perspectives.

Ross graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina in 2016, earning dual degrees in Business Management and Economics and serving as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Council. He received his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2019. After being admitted to the South Carolina Bar in November 2019, he spent two and a half years as a public defender, where he developed courtroom skills and trial experience. He subsequently worked for two and a half years at a nationally ranked product liability litigation defense firm, handling complex cases involving medical devices and automotives across the United States. In November 2024, Ross joined Derrick Law Firm to advocate for individuals rather than corporations, putting his comprehensive legal knowledge to work for his personal injury clients.

Licensed to practice in the State of South Carolina and the Federal District Court for the District of South Carolina, Ross maintains an active presence in his community by coaching the Mock Trial team at Chapin High School, helping to develop the next generation of legal advocates. In his free time, he enjoys watching the Gamecocks and the Orioles with his wife, son, and their three rescue dogs.
