Roy P. Zachariah, a registered patent lawyer with a deep background in electrical and computer engineering, is a shareholder in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice and advises clients of all sizes on patent, trademark, and trade secret law, including prosecution, licensing, analyses, due diligence, and litigation. Roy develops and implements strategies for constructing and managing patent and trademark portfolios, prosecutes patent and trademark applications, and assesses infringement risk and patent invalidity for his clients. Roy also negotiates and drafts intellectual property agreements, including acquisition and sale agreements, intellectual property licenses, and assignments, and also conducts IP due diligence on IP portfolios for various types of corporate transactions.
Roy’s practice includes developing and implementing patent strategies for building patent portfolios, prosecuting patents, and counseling in a number of technology areas, including: computer science, computer engineering, telecommunications, artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, electronic hardware systems and devices, medical and health care systems and devices, mechanical systems and devices, content delivery systems, cybersecurity systems, blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies, big data, business methods, and a variety of other technology areas.
Prior to entering private practice, Roy gained experience as a software engineer/programmer and business analyst for a major entertainment and sports company and performed prior art searches in the technology and licensing department of a large university.
