Biography

Ryan Schoeb is a partner in WSHB’s Florida offices. With extensive trial experience in a host of different practice areas, Ryan has multifaceted experience in litigation. At WSHB, Ryan represents clients in complex commercial litigation, securities arbitrations and investigations, professional liability, subrogation, construction, transportation, environmental and intellectual property.

Ryan has experience handling a wide range of experience representing clients in disputes involving business, financial, corporate and securities matters in state and federal courts, FINRA arbitrations and a variety of different types of regulatory investigations. He counsels directors and officers, securities brokers, insurance agents and brokers, and other financial lines professionals against claims of fraud, negligence and breach of fiduciary duties, unsuitable recommendations, and other errors and omissions claims.

He also specializes in cybersecurity and data privacy matters as a member of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Team. Ryan manages complex litigation related to privacy and cybersecurity, including data breaches, pixel class actions, tech errors and omissions litigation, and claims arising under various privacy laws such as the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Additionally, he routinely advises clients on data security incidents, coordinating responses to ransomware attacks, fraudulent wire transfers, and business email compromise events while evaluating notification obligations under applicable laws. Ryan provides privacy compliance counseling for companies, collaborates with cyber insurance carriers on subrogation recovery efforts, and assists clients in responding to copyright infringement claims.

Prior to joining the firm, Ryan represented businesses involved in the entertainment industry. There he gained experience in a variety of areas including employment, personal injury defense, land use, and the First Amendment. Thereafter, he was an Assistant Public Defender in Pinellas County where he litigated high profile cases. He has also been the keynote speaker at various legal presentations, including a forum on the legalization of medical marijuana in Florida. Ryan is a member of the First Amendment Lawyers Association. He is also licensed to practice in Federal Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern District of Florida.
