Sean McCarthy is regarded as a trusted adviser first and foremost. He listens to his client’s issues and offers carefully thought-out solutions. Sean’s law practice spans a wide range of civil litigation. He is well-versed in complex commercial litigation after representing business clients in disputes about international trade treaty issues, international and domestic oil and gas deals, contract breaches, fraud, fiduciary duties, and insurance policy coverage. Sean also represents people who have been injured by the negligence of others. Sean has tried cases in state and federal courts. He has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations.
He also leads the firm’s insurance litigation docket. He regularly represents policyholders and beneficiaries against insurance companies covering wrongfully denied or underpaid medical, property, and life insurance claims.
Sean’s experience covers all aspects of the case: discovery, expert witness preparation, motion practice, oral arguments, mediation, arbitration, and trial. He also has appellate experience and argued successfully to affirm an award for his client before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Sean was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in Spring, Texas. After high school, he was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy. Upon graduation, he received his commission and served as an active duty officer for five years before separating and moving back to Houston.
Sean is licensed to practice in Texas and before all four District Courts of Texas and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He is a member of several legal professional associations and was named to the Texas Rising Stars list from 2014 through 2018 and included in the Texas Super. Lawyers' list from 2020 to 2026.
